BACOLOD City – A woman died after she drowned in a river in Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
The 21-year-old resident Donna Mae Rico is epileptic, police said.
Rico went to the river to empty her chamber pot (arinola) when she was attacked by epilepsy around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, added the police.
Residents “Patong” and “Salba” rescued Rico from the river. They tried to revive her until personnel from the municipal rescue unit arrived.
Rico was then rushed to the Rural Health Unit where attending physician Dr. Nenita Rodriguez-Sol pronounced her “dead on arrival,” police said./PN
