ILOILO City – Did officers from the Molo district police station and the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) illegally search a house in San Jose Village, Barangay Tagbac, Jaro?
This was what a 62-year-old housewife from Salazar Compound, Barangay Gustilo, La Paz complained about in a blotter report filed at the Jaro police station on Jan. 19.
According to Edna Gonzales Flores, the Molo and RDEU officers raided the house that Sheila Gonzales Villeta was renting on Jan. 12. Flores claimed the operation was illegal.
After arresting Villeta, the police officers searched her bedroom and took several of her belongings “against her will and consent,” Flores said in the blotter report.
Among items the officers took, according to Flores, were a set of jewelry worth P26,000, a necklace worth P19,000, a container of coins worth P150,000, wallet with P50,000 cash and a US dollar;
Bags, watches, 20 pairs of slippers, a television unit, a blower, an iron, stuffed toys, perfume, two plastic drawers containing clothes and pillows, and documents on motorcycle ownership.
The report did not indicate how Flores and Villeta were related and where Villeta was taken after her supposed arrest.
Officers from the Molo police station and the RDEU have yet to comment on the blotter report as of this writing./PN
