ANTIQUE – Work in the provincial government and classes in almost all towns in Antique province were suspended on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao suspended the work of the provincial government due to heavy rains brought by tropical storm ‘Agaton’, except for the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), and Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) that leads the response and relief operations in emergency cases.
“Due to heavy rainfall brought by tropical depression ‘Agaton’, work in all provincial offices, except for PDRRMO, PEO, and PSWDO, are suspended today, April 12, 2022,” Cadiao said in an announcement.
Apart from that, almost all the towns under Antique have also issued executive orders for classes’ suspension.
Among those who suspended classes this Tuesday are the following: Caluya, Tibiao, Barbaza, San Remigio, Libertad, Culasi, Valderrama, San Jose, Anini- y, Laua-a, Hamtic, Belison, Pandan, and Patnongon.
Also, due to heavy rain, several landslides were recorded by the provincial government.
The first landslide is in Brgy. Paningayan and Brgy. Leon in Laua-a last Monday night.
The landslide also occurred in Brgy. Pangalcagan, Bugasong this Tuesday morning where a collapsed soil accidentally covered a man inside his house but was immediately rescued by barangay officials and residents.
As of this writing, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will continue to conduct on-site assessments and validation in the areas./PN
