ILOILO City— The observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, locally known as Undas, on November 1 and 2 was generally peaceful and orderly across Western Visayas, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6). No major incidents were reported from October 31 to the early morning of November 3.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan attributed the smooth conduct of Undas 2025 to the comprehensive security plan implemented across the region and the cooperation of the public.
“I commend our police personnel for their unwavering commitment and the public for their cooperation and discipline. Our collective efforts ensured that the Undas 2025 observance remained peaceful, safe, and orderly for everyone in Western Visayas,” Ligan said.
To manage crowds and maintain public safety, PRO-6 deployed 4,706 police personnel, force multipliers, and other government forces to cemeteries, transport terminals, seaports, and other public areas. Aerial monitoring using drones complemented regular foot and mobile patrols, while Police Assistance Desks (PADs) were set up in major cemeteries. Checkpoints and law enforcement operations were reinforced to ensure security and smooth traffic flow.
Ligan personally inspected deployments in Iloilo City and nearby provinces, visiting cemeteries, bus terminals, and seaports to oversee operations. He reminded motorists to observe traffic rules and encouraged the public to remain vigilant, especially while traveling.
The PRO-6 expressed gratitude to local government units, partner agencies, and volunteers for their active coordination and support, noting that the success of Undas 2025 reflects the importance of collaboration in maintaining peace and order during major observances.
While the region enjoyed a largely incident-free holiday, PRO-6 said heightened alert status will continue in the coming days as travelers return to urban centers./PN
