ILOILO City – The Pag-IBIG Fund has surpassed 500,000 active members in Western Visayas, marking a significant growth in regional membership and signalling heightened trust in the government-run savings and loan program.
As of March 2025, Pag-IBIG Fund recorded 538,804 active members across Region 6, including Negros Occidental, according to Atty. Stanley Alayon, acting area head of the Member Services Office in Western Visayas.
The agency also reported a total of ₱1.144 billion in members’ savings, while short-term loan disbursements reached ₱859.5 million, benefiting 30,407 borrowers in just the first quarter of 2025.
“We are encouraged by the steady rise in savings and loan activity. This reflects our members’ growing confidence in Pag-IBIG Fund’s services and benefits,” Alayon said.
In addition to improved loan access, Pag-IBIG members holding the Loyalty Card Plus can now enjoy discounts at over 400 partner establishments, including fuel stations, supermarkets, healthcare providers, and educational institutions.
The card also functions as a savings account and official membership ID, where approved loan proceeds are directly deposited.
Meanwhile, Pag-IBIG Roxas Branch Head Rolando Gilo announced that new members will only need to contribute for one year to qualify for a multi-purpose loan, down from the previous two-year waiting period. This comes after the monthly contribution was doubled from ₱100 to ₱200 in February 2025.
Starting May 15, Gilo added, the loanable amount under the multi-purpose loan program will be raised from 80 percent to 90 percent of a member’s total savings.
The Pag-IBIG Fund’s dual mandate is promoting savings and providing affordable home financing for Filipino workers nationwide./PN
