KALIBO, Aklan – Survivors of super typhoon “Yolanda” who failed to receive the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) were urged to avail themselves of the P5,000 Presidential Assistance Fund (PAF).
An alliance of “Yolanda” survivors and people’s organizations in Aklan is helping validate and verify survivors to eliminate “patronage and disproportionate allocation among victims.”
“Coordinate with Rise Up Aklan coordinators and field validators in your barangay or town,” said the alliance’s coordinator Kim-Sin Tugna.
Rise Up Aklan was created after the onslaught of the super typhoon in November 2013.
“Yolanda” survivors who failed to receive the ESA are undergoing verification before qualifying for the PAF. Beneficiaries are required to accomplish a Financial Assistance Application Form, said Tugna.
More than 20,000 survivor households in Aklan failed to get the ESA from the national government. They appealed for help.
President Rodrigo Duterte committed a P5,000 cash assistance for each household to rebuild their houses and livelihood. The fund is taken from the Socio-civic Projects Fund of the Office of the President.
Only households damaged by “Yolanda” on the lists of people’s and nongovernment organizations on or before Nov. 8, 2016 and have requested aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development are eligible for the PAF.
Prospective PAF beneficiaries should be also in the lists of unfunded ESA family beneficiaries under the Department of Budget and Management as of June 22, 2016 to qualify for the cash aid.
Through a government bank-issued cash card, the PAF will be given to the eligible beneficiaries over the next six months starting April, said Tugna. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
