ILOILO City – As part of their advocacy of empowering women and protecting children’s rights, Zonta Club of Iloilo II rehabilitated the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on Oct. 8.
It could be learned that Zonta Club of Iloilo City II funded the establishment of the office in 2002 as one of its main projects. The organization also donated equipment and facilities to cater the needs of abused women and children.
In cooperation with the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Iloilo-Marikudo Chapter, the ICPO Women and Children Desk was rehabilitated and renovated. Members of Zonta Club of Iloilo City II and UAP Iloilo-Marikudo Chapter painted the wall of the center to make it more child-friendly.
Police Superintendent Marie Faith Superio, chief of ICPO Women and Children Protection Desk, is thankful to Zonta Club for the support that they have given to her office.
“We appreciate the efforts of Zonta Club of Iloilo City II that they keep on supporting our office and they recognize our need,” she said.
Superio also noted that it will be a big help for them to fulfill their various advocacies in the community.
A memorandum of agreement was also signed between ICPO and Zonta Club of Iloilo City II for the official turnover of the building./PN
