ILOILO City – The campaign against minors entering motels and similar establishments will be sustained, vowed the city government’s Task Force on Morals and Values Formation (TF-MVF).

The task force successfully turned away a total of 86 minors who tried to enter these establishments on Valentine’s Day, revealed TF-MVF chairman Jorge Duron.

Earlier this month, Duron met the owners and managers of these establishments and warned them about the consequences of violating Ordinance No. 2015-447.

The ordinance targets sex predators. It specifically prohibits anybody from spending time with minors alone in lodging houses, pension houses, inns, hotels, motels, apartelles and other similar establishments.

Duron said the campaign will be sustained and won’t be a victim of the negative Filipino trait ningas cogon (fading enthusiasm).

On Feb. 14, the minors attempted to enter motels on board vehicles but they failed to get past the sharp eyes of the task force, said Duron. He bared the following statistics:

* Sofia Lodge (16 vehicles, 18 minors)

* Anita Lodge (20 vehicles, 20 minor)

* Katrina Lodge (17 vehicles, 17 minors)

* Queen’s Court – 19 vehicles.

Duron said the task force spotted teenage girls with adult men, teenage boys with adult women and minor couples.

For the upcoming Paraw Regatta, he said the task force will be focusing on lodging houses along Villa Beach in Arevalo district.

Duron warned these establishments against violating Ordinance No. 2015-447.

“Last year before noon of Feb. 14, fully booked na tanan nga lodging houses…subong with the cooperation of the managements, lunchtime na indi pa nila mabuta. Until sa hapon indi pa nila mabuta,” said Duron./PN
