ILOILO City – Police in Mandurriao were confident of their case against the suspect in a recent fatal shooting at Smallville.

Chief Inspector Juvy Navales, district police head, said they filed a murder charge against Vanlen Jyro Joseph Hulleza at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

The 22-year-old Hulleza of Barangay Sambag, Jaro was accused of killing Remier Tan, 24, of Lawaan Village, Jaro on Sunday.

Navales believes the evidence they have gathered were “strong.”

And “there are witnesses who really saw what happened and could pin him down,” according to the police officer.

The Suzuki Jimny that the suspect used to escape, as seen from a security camera footage reviewed by the police, remains impounded at the Mandurriao police station, Navales said.

“Murder is a non-bailable offense. The accused remains detained at our station,” she said.

Earlier Navales said the bloodstain on the vehicle and the security camera footage “make for a strong case” against the suspect.

Tan, a medical technology graduate, was shot at around 5:35 a.m. on San Jose Street at the entertainment complex in Mandurriao. He was taken to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital where he expired.

Hulleza and Tan had an argument at Prism bar before the shooting, initial police investigation showed./PN
