BACOLOD City – A suspected firearms dealer was caught in an entrapment operation in Barangay Villamonte, along a road leading to the Bacolod City Government Center.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Police Station 4 operatives arrested the 27-year-old Eduardo Bascos Jr. of East Homes 4, Barangay Mansilingan.

Officers recovered from him a .45-caliber pistol with an unloaded magazine.

Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, Police Station 4 commander, clarified that Bascos was not a city government employee.

It so happened that the area where Bascos and the undercover officers agreed to “transact” was near city hall, said Bonilla.

Bascos was currently in CIDG custody. He may be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Bonilla and the CIDG’s Chief Inspector Teodoro Santos Jr. led the operation on Monday./PN
