PERLAS-BANKO Lady Spikers pulled off a huge shocker in the Premier Volleyball League on Tour’s Iloilo leg with a 25-21, 22-25, 25-7, 25-14 win over Creamline Cool Smashers on Tuesday night at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

The lopsided win served as Lady Spikers’ retribution following a 17-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 19-17 loss to Cool Smashers during the PVL on Tour in Batangas City on Sunday.

Both teams had a tight exchange in the opening set with no team pulling away by more than 5 points. Lady Spikers came up with clutch points at the end behind Nicole Tiamzon and Amy Ahomiro.

Lady Spikers surrendered the second set, with Alyssa Valdez coming alive for Cool Smashers, but the former had a huge response in the third behind Tiamzon, Suzanne Roces and Angelique Gervacio for an 18-point lead.

Perlas continued to pounce on Cool Smashers miscues in the fourth set with conversions from Roces, Ahomiro and Jorella De Jesus for a quick double digit lead and never looked back.

In the opening game, Reinforced Conference champion Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors survived a gutsy stand by Hair Fairy-Air Force Jet Spikers to pull off a five-set triumph.

After failing to close out Jet Spikers in the fourth, Myla Pablo, Elaine Kasilag and Jeanette Panaga rose to the occasion for Lady Warriors in the deciding set with crucial points to escape with the win.

In other games, University of San Agustin defeated Ateneo de Iloilo in the elementary girls match while St. Catherine Parochial School of Leon edged Ateneo de Iloilo in secondary girls./PN
