TAEKWONDO athletes from the stable of Mark V. Pinggol of Iloilo City captured four gold and one silver medals in the Visayas leg of the Batang Pinoy in Dumaguete City on Wednesday.

Ronald Kyle Pico, Senddrik Valencia, Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, and Rannie Rose Dedoroy topped in kyorugi while Raphael Lloyd Pico settled for second place.

“As a coach, I am proud of the performance of my players,” Pinggol told Panay News. “They survived tough and experienced opponents from the elimination round all the way to the finals.”

As of early Thursday, Iloilo had 14 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals in taekwondo.

Winning gold medals earlier were Kershel Kail Silava, Sophia Marie and Cindy Joy Diasnes in elementary girls, and Kharla Marie Saberon, Geraldine Mosquera, John Palonpon, Jep-jep Mamigo, Djanne Sarria, and Julian Tiongson in kyorugi.

Silver medalists were Johnriel Sampiano in individual poomsae, and Maybelle Pillo, Cassandra Leporada, John Paolo Agapolo, Raphael Francis Dequilla, and TJ Horlador in kyorugi.

Sophia Marie Tungala (individual poomsae) and Sean Paul Paracha, Zhey Fiel, Cyrus and Denz Palonpon, and Graxer Maglupay (kyorugi) took home bronze./PN
