BACOLOD City – As the country commemorates the 31st anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution today, a group will hold a motorcade to express support to President Rodrigo Duterte.

Kilusang Pagbabago (KP) Negros Island Region claimed opponents are “moving heaven and earth to destabilize the Duterte administration.”

“Anti-Duterte forces are making a move to frustrate the will of the people,” said Atty. Archie S. Baribar, KP-Negros spokesperson. “We will not [let] that happen.”

Through the “nationwide and globally coordinated mass mobilization,” Baribar said they will “show power grabbers that they cannot succeed because Duterte has the support of majority of the Filipinos.”

The group will assemble at 2 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center.

The motorcade will start at 3 p.m., traversing major areas, including Libertad, the public plaza, the Negros Occidental provincial capitol, Shopping Area, and Villamonte.

Its last stop is at the KP-Negros headquarters on ABB-Galo streets, where a short program will be held.

“President Duterte has the full trust and confidence of the Filipino people,” Baribar stressed. “We call on all pro-Duterte forces, our allied groups and other patriotic organizations to join us in expressing our support to President Duterte and his administration.”

Similar gatherings were also set to be held in Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Ormoc, Davao, Butuan, Iligan, Zamboanga, and Surigao cities.

Pro-Duterte groups in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United States, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, London, and Cayman Islands were also launching their respective rallies and gatherings.

In another development, Bayan Muna-Negros already commemorated the EDSA People Power Revolution on Friday.

Starting 1 p.m., members marched from Rizal Park toward the public plaza where they gathered for a program that ended at 5 p.m.

Secretary-General Christian Tuayon said they called on the government to continue the peace negotiations and stop the all-out war against rebels.

The progressive group claimed around 800 of their members participated./PN
