ILOILO City – Three suspected shoplifters were arrested and detained at the police station in Mandurriao district.

The following were accused of stealing various items from Metro Supermarket at Atria in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao:

  • Sweety Pie Sorre, 35, of Barangay Taytay Zone 2, Jaro

  • Marvin Gonzales, 30, of Barangay Cubay, Jaro

  • Alejandro Janito, 25, of Barangay San Roque, Jaro

They allegedly took P6,596 worth of items – two packs of Ensure Gold powered milk (P3,079 each) and two Loreal Paris conditioners (P219 each) – at around 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, a police report showed.

Sorre and Gonzales took the products and passed them to Janito, who placed them in a black shoulder bag, a “civilian intelligence” informant identified as 28-year-old Jeffrey Laureta told the police.

Laureta said he saw the suspects leaving the store without passing by the cashier, so he stopped them and asked for their receipt.

Janito ran, prompting security guard Marcelino De Jesus to catch him. A grappling that ensued caused a head injury on the suspect, the police report stated.

Supermarket security supervisor Eva Marie Fuguso confirmed that the products recovered from the suspects were unpaid, police said./PN
