ILOILO City – Charges are now being prepared against six neophyte policewomen caught drinking liquor in Barangay Pasig, Sara, Iloilo, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6.
No less than Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, PRO-6 director, ordered the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) to probe and gather evidence against the six lady cops.
These personnel – who have been since relieved after the Sept. 12 incident – violated the memorandum that prohibits a Philippine National Police (PNP) officer from drinking alcoholic beverages in public places during the pandemic, explained Pamuspusan in a virtual press conference.
Major Jose Nemias Pamplona, Sara police chief, caught patrolwomen Pearl Joy Araneta, Jeseel Cordivito, Shane Grijaldo, Rose May Ogboc, Ma. Lorena Semilla, and Jean Tiongco having a drinking spree at a restaurant in the afternoon of Sept. 12. All six were in civilian clothes.
PRO-6 spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong said they were waiting for the investigation report from the policewomen’s training course director.
Malong wanted to know why they were able to engage in binge drinking while undergoing training for Basic Internal Security Operations Course.
“Administrative charges will be filed against them because they violated an order not to drink liquor in public places and besides they are under training and they are not allowed to go out from the training camp,” said Malong.
On Sept. 11, Major General Alfred Corpus, head of PNP directorate for operations, reiterated President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to all regional police directors the strict prohibition of drinking liquor in public places of all police personnel./PN
