MANILA – The Sta. Clarita International High School Primes scored a lopsided 94-73 win over St. Roberts International School in the 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball League (Mayors Cup-1st Conference) on Thursday at the Barangay Katilingban Gym in Molo.

Mark Christian Jimenez top-scored with 22 points for the Primes, which moved up to second place in the high school category after tallying its second win in three assignments.

The Primes, headed by coach Rodel Camacho, will be gunning for its third straight triumph when it takes on Mandurriao National High School (1-1) at two in the afternoon today.

St. Roberts International Academy, meanwhile, will try to bounce back from the crushing defeat when it faces the league-leading CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights at 3:30 p.m.

“I am glad that we are now able to adjust playing without some of our key players,” Camacho said. “I am hoping that magtuloy tuloy na ito dahil this will help in developing our team heading in our future tournaments.”

In the other match, co-leader Sun Yat Sen High School cruised to its third straight victory in as many outings after beating Jalandoni Memorial National High School, 88-77. Benz Escamilla finished with 20 points for Sun Yat Sen.

For the other matches today, Iloilo City National High School and Iloilo National High School will be duking it out for a first win at 5 p.m., while the final match for the day is between Iloilo Executive and MASA in the 40 and up category at 6:30 p.m.

The 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball Tournament, also known as the Mayors Cup-1st Conference, is organized by the Iloilo City Government and presented by Flanax and Bonamine./PN
