MANILA – Filipina volleyball star Alyssa Valdez has finally made her mark with 3BB Nakornnont in the Volleyball Thailand League on Saturday night at the Rangsit University Gymnasium in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

The former Ateneo Lady Eagles star uncorked nine points in extended minutes of action for 3BB Nakornnont, which scored a 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 win over the Rangsit University.

Unlike in her first two games, the Batangas City-native Valdez was utilized by 3BB Nakornnont from start to finish showing her offensive prowess and her floor defense properly.

The 23-year-old Valdez played a vital role in 3BB Nakornnont’s win over Rangsit University when she fired consecutive points at the latter part of the second half to quell the rally of their opponent.

The nine points marks the highest score for the three-time UAAP and Shakey’s V-League MVP Valdez in her Thailand stint after combining just three points in her first two games with the 3BB Nakornnont.

“I am glad with the opportunity given to me by the 3BB Nakornnont,” said Valdez, who became the first Filipina to be tapped as a reinforcement in Thailand. “I will treasure everything I will learn from here and hope to use it when I play for the national team.”

With the victory, 3BB Nakornnont has snapped its two-game losing skid and improved to a 6-5 win-loss record. Valdez’s team will return to action next week against Nakhon Ratchasima The Mall./PN
