BACOLOD City – Ten residents suspected to be engaged in illegal gambling were arrested in Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
Recovered from them were a deck of playing cards and P1,155 bet money, a police report showed.
The suspects were Bambi Fuentes, Elvera Ruel, Evangeline Encarguez, Lovely Himongala, Jeneva Amion, Maricar Bendanillo, Justin Zuñiga, Ernie Bucabal, Erlinda Libo-on, and Gilbert Cagas, all residents of the village.
Police chanced upon them playing the card game “49” around 2:31 p.m. on Dec. 2.
The suspects were detained at the Escalante City police station, facing charges./PN
