ILOILO — The 24-hour anti-drug operation launched across Western Visayas resulted in the arrest of 11 suspects and confiscation of approximately 580 grams of suspected shabu.
According to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), a total of 11 operations were carried out from 6 a.m. on November 28 until 6 a.m. on November 29.
Of those apprehended, five were tagged as high-value individuals (HVI) and six were categorized as street-level targets.
The largest haul was in Barangay Rizal Lapuz Sur in Lapuz, Iloilo City on Nov. 28. At around 4:53 p.m., alias “Boss,” 31, was arrested by officers of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6). The HVI yielded 160 grams of suspected shabu.
Nearly two hours after, operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 2 collared alias “Irene,” 48, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lagubang, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. Police seized 150 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1,020,000.
All arrested were detained, facing charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO-6, meanwhile, attributed the success of these operations to sustained intelligence efforts, enhanced coordination among law enforcement units, and crucial public tips about suspicious drug activities.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan lauded the collaborative efforts of operating units.
“These accomplishments reflect the dedication of our men and women in PRO-6 to keep Western Visayas safe from the scourge of illegal drugs. We will not let up. Our operations will remain relentless, and we urge the community to work with us in reporting drug activities so we can further protect our communities,” Ligan added./PN
