BACOLOD City – A 38-year-old man was arrested in an entrapment operation for his alleged involvement in 16 counts of robbery extortion amounting to a total of P700,000.
The operation took place at around 12:45 p.m. on November 29 outside an inn at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport here.
Police identified the suspect only by his alias, “Police Major Calsado,” a resident of Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
According to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), aside from the robbery extortion complaints filed against him, the suspect will also face charges for usurpation of authority for falsely representing himself as a police major to deceive victims.
The entrapment operation was carried out by the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the BCPO following multiple complaints alleging that the suspect had been extorting money while impersonating a police officer.
Police said the suspect is now in the custody of the police station handling the case.
The BCPO emphasized its commitment to protecting the public from individuals exploiting the name of law enforcement and assured the community that all offenders will be held accountable./PN
