BACOLOD City – A total of 119 scholars of the Bacolod City College (BCC) availed themselves of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES), based on the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Listahan 2.0.
TES was one of the core programs under Republic Act No. 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
It is a grants-in-aid program that provides funding for all Filipino students from the poorest-of-the-poor households enrolled in public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and implemented by the Commission on Higher Education.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the distribution of the subsidy on Sept. 13 at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby.
The student-grantees received P20,000 each for academic year 2020-2021.
According to Ma. Johanna Bayoneta, BCC administrator, 60 of the student-grantees were from this city, while the others from various cities and towns in Negros Occidental.
In May, 174 BCC student-grantees also received their TES of P40,000 each for the first and second semester of academic year 2019-2020./PN
