Bacolod logs 9 more ‘Delta’ cases

BACOLOD City – This city recorded nine more cases of the Delta variant of the virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on the result released by the Philippine Genome Center on Sept. 12.

Delta cases in this city now stood at 21, according to City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center.

The nine additional cases underwent a repeat reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR) yesterday. They were isolated.

Ang said their close contacts were also swabbed, and their households placed on surgical lockdown.

Kon mag-negative ang result sang nine, they will be released from the quarantine facility and will continue the home quarantine because they would be considered as inactive cases already,” Ang said.

According to Ang, the Delta variant may have caused the recent spike in coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, beds dedicated to COVID patients in private and government hospitals have hit full capacity.

Ang said the city is utilizing the mid-way quarantine facility in Barangay Alijis to decongest hospitals./PN
