ILOILO City — The entire province of Guimaras and at least seven municipalities in Iloilo Province will experience a 12-hour power interruption this Saturday, June 20, as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) undertakes major maintenance and rehabilitation works on a key transmission line serving the area.
The scheduled outage, which will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., is necessary to allow NGCP technical teams to carry out wood pole replacement, preventive maintenance servicing of high-voltage equipment, and cleaning of insulators along the Sta. Barbara–Ingore–Buenavista 69-kilovolt transmission line.
According to an advisory issued by the Guimaras Electric Cooperative (GUIMELCO), the shutdown will affect several substations and distribution utilities connected to the transmission corridor.
“NGCP will temporarily shut down its Sta. Barbara–Ingore-Buenavista 69kV line for the wood pole replacement along 69kV Line, preventive maintenance schedule of high voltage equipment (HVE) at Buenavista Substation and cleaning of insulators at Ingore switching station,” GUIMELCO said in its advisory.
Among the affected electric cooperatives and facilities are Iloilo I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ILECO 1), the Leganes, Bolong and Cabatuan substations, GUIMELCO, the Jordan and Zaldivar substations, and the Guimaras Wind facility.
The outage will cover the entire province of Guimaras and the whole municipalities of Cabatuan and Leganes.
Also affected is the municipality of Maasin, except for Sitio Ignaripay, Siwalo, Linab and Punong, which remain under a separate power supply arrangement of ILECO 1.
In San Miguel, all barangays will be affected except San Jose, San Antonio and Sto. Angel.
Meanwhile, most of Santa Barbara will lose power except Barangay Cabugao Norte, a portion of Barangay Lupa near the circumferential road bridge leading to barangays Bolong Este, Jibao-an and Balabag.
Portions of Pavia town will also be affected, particularly barangays Amparo, Mali-ao, Pal-Agon and part of Cabugao Sur along Vice President Fernando Lopez Avenue.
In Alimodian town, the affected areas include barangays Sulong, Sinamay, Manguining, Coline and Dalag.
GUIMELCO and ILECO 1 advised consumers to take the necessary precautions during the scheduled outage and to treat all electrical lines and equipment as energized at all times, as power restoration could occur earlier than expected once the maintenance activities are completed.
“Once the maintenance activity is done, power supply will be restored immediately. All our MEMBER-CONSUMER-OWNERS (MCOS) are advised to take precautionary measures and necessary preparations,” GUIMELCO added.
NGCP said it will exert all efforts to complete the work and restore electricity as early as possible, or within the scheduled restoration period./PN
