BACOLOD City — Fourteen individuals were arrested and around P2.475 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a series of anti-drug operations conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) from August 17 to 23.
BCPO records showed that police conducted 11 drug busts during the one-week period, resulting in the confiscation of approximately 364 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P2.475 million.
The 14 suspects were charged with violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Aside from the anti-drug operations, police also apprehended 17 individuals who were the subjects of outstanding arrest warrants. Two of those arrested were listed as most-wanted persons, while the remaining 15 were wanted for various offenses.
The BCPO also conducted four operations against illegal gambling during the same period.
The operations resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals and the recovery of P1,626 in alleged betting money. Cases have been filed in court against the arrested individuals for violations of Presidential Decrees 1602 and 449.
BCPO Director Col. Eugene Rebadomia commended police personnel for their performance in the campaign against illegal drugs, wanted persons and other forms of criminality in the city.
Rebadomia also urged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station to help authorities prevent crimes and other untoward incidents.
The BCPO said its intensified law enforcement operations would continue as part of efforts to maintain peace and order in Bacolod City. (WDJ)/PN
