MANILA — The Commission on Elections on Friday said they had printed 15 percent of the projected ballots for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), its spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said.
“Per update of the printing committee, 15 percent of the projected ballot quantities have been printed,” Laudiangco said in a statement.
The printed manual ballots are from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Caraga region, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City), and the Province of Batanes, according to Laudiangco.
Laudiangco said the final quantity of the ballots would be determined in February.
“These are projected figures as the final quantity will be determined after the conduct of the Election Registration Board Hearings come February, to include all approved applications for this registration cycle, as well as those subject for inclusion/exclusion by the Courts,” the spokesperson said.
In July 2022, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 11935, postponing the barangay and SK elections to October 2023. It was supposed to have been held on Dec. 5, 2022. Under the new law, it will be held on Oct. 30, 2023, and then every three years after that.
