150,000 Negrenses fully-vaxxed

BACOLOD City – About 11 percent or 154,539 individuals of the target 1.4 million residents in Negros Occidental have so far been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Data released yesterday by Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz showed 216,699 individuals were administered with two-dose vaccines (Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Pfizer) while 76,736 got the single-dose Janssen shots.

Diaz observed that the demand for COVID-19 vaccines is now greater than the supply

They only have 50 doses left of the Janssen jabs, and a few remaining doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine purchased by the provincial government, he revealed.

Good thing that yesterday morning, Diaz said, 10,700 doses of the Moderna vaccine and another 10,000 CoronaVac jabs made by Chinese biotech company Sinovac arrived.

The US-made Moderna vaccine will most probably be rolled out only at the Negros Residences in Bacolod City and the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

The reason as to why the rollout is being limited to only two venues is because of the Moderna vaccine’s storage requirement of negative 50 to negative 15 degrees Celsius.

Diaz, on the other hand, aired his frustration with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals over its delivery schedule to the province.

He also revealed that there have been companies offering the province of vaccines.

However they opted not to take any order considering that the delivery schedule would still depend on the suppliers./PN
