ILOILO – Reward money is waiting people who could pinpoint the personalities behind illegal numbers games such as bookies here.
The offer came from 7 Aces Games and Amusement Corp., the Small Town Lottery (STL) authorized agent corporation in this province.
Those who can give information about the “Kabo Mayor” would get P10,000 reward money; P20,000 for the maintainer; P50,000 for the safe house or bolahan; and P100,000 for the financier (locally called bangkero or kapitalista).
The information can be reported to mobile numbers 0916-297-7589 and 0947-439-0948.
The authorized agent assured informants of confidentiality.
Iloilo City councilor Romel Duron, legal counsel and spokesperson of 7 Aces Games and Amusement Corp., said people behind bookies were organized, and most them also used to engage in the Perhayan ng Bayan whose operation in the city was recently stopped.
Citing a court decision, Duron said the operation of Peryahan ng Bayan was illegal.
No less than Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) vice chairperson and general manager Royina Marzan-Garma noted that the Office of the President (OP) issued a memorandum that the resumption of Peryahan operations “does not bear the approval” of President Rodrigo Duterte, and therefore is still subject to the suspension order of the PCSO game.
Meanwhile, Duron said the effects of bookies and other illegal number games to the legal STL is huge. He said bookies were earning million a day.
“Instead nga makadto sa pundo sang PCSO gakadto sa bulsa sang mga illegal operators,” said Duron.
He also previously said around P23-million worth of financial assistance for the needy can be generated by the PCSO if the public will patronize STL over Peryahan ng Bayan or other illegal number games.
Duron noted that 52.29 percent of the income of the STL in Iloilo province will go to the PCSO and can be used for charity work./PN
