ILOILO City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deployed 434 personnel and intensified vessel inspections across Western Visayas as 16,599 passengers passed through the region’s seaports in just six hours on All Saints’ Day, November 1, amid heightened maritime security operations for Undas 2026.

Despite the heavy passenger traffic, the Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV) reported no maritime incidents from 6 a.m. to noon.

Under Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2026, the Coast Guard recorded 8,835 outbound and 7,764 inbound passengers during the six-hour monitoring period.

CGDWV personnel inspected 116 vessels, 116 motorbancas and 979 rolling cargoes to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations and prevent accidents at sea.

CGDWV spokesperson Lieutenant Junior Grade Aldrin Barnizo said heightened security and monitoring operations would continue as travelers returned to their hometowns and visited departed loved ones.

“Our personnel continue to monitor port activities and conduct inspections of vessels and other watercraft to ensure that safety regulations are strictly observed. We want to make sure that passengers can travel safely and conveniently as they visit their loved ones during the Undas break,” Barnizo said.

He said Coast Guard personnel stationed at strategic ports and coastal areas remained ready to respond to maritime emergencies and other security concerns.

“We are maintaining our heightened alert and will continue to strengthen our presence in ports and coastal areas. We remind passengers to cooperate with Coast Guard personnel, follow safety protocols and immediately report any suspicious activity or safety concern,” Barnizo added./PN
