BACOLOD City – A total of 167 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel assigned to the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) were promoted during a simultaneous oath-taking, donning, and pinning of ranks ceremony held Wednesday, July 29, at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) Covered Court in Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., Barangay Estefania, this city.
The ceremony was presided over by PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Romano V. Cardiño and attended by members of the command group, regional and personal staff, representatives of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM)-NIR, families of the newly promoted personnel, and other police officers.
The promoted personnel included 18 police majors, four captains, 12 lieutenants, 42 chief master sergeants, five senior master sergeants, 20 master sergeants, 34 staff sergeants, and 32 corporals.
Cardiño said the promotions recognize the officers’ competence, dedication, and years of faithful service, while reminding them that higher ranks also carry greater responsibility.
He urged the newly promoted personnel to uphold integrity, professionalism, and compassion in the performance of their duties, noting that they are expected to deliver faster, more responsive, and people-centered police service under the PRO-NIR’s SAFE NIR Dial 911 Program.
“Every promotion comes with a higher level of responsibility to the community. We expect every police officer to respond more quickly, remain accessible to the public, and serve as a model of honest and compassionate public service,” Cardiño said.
He also acknowledged the support of the families of the promoted personnel, saying their encouragement and sacrifices contributed to the officers’ professional growth and achievements.
The promotion program forms part of the PNP’s merit-based career advancement system, which recognizes personnel for exemplary performance, integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service while strengthening the organization’s capability to deliver quality police services across the Negros Island Region./PN
