BACOLOD City – A 45-year-old man survived an apparent suicide attempt after jumping from the Singcang Flyover on Wednesday morning, July 29, the second such incident reported in the city within three days.
According to a report from Police Station 8, the incident occurred at around 6:55 a.m. in Barangay Singcang-Airport and was reported to authorities shortly after 7 a.m.
Col. Eugene Rebadomia, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), identified the man as a resident of Purok Boulevard, Barangay 14, Bacolod City, who works as a heavy equipment operator for a shipping company.
Initial investigation showed that the man stopped the motorcycle he was riding before suddenly jumping from the flyover.
Police Station 8 personnel immediately responded to the scene after receiving the report.
Emergency responders from AMITY Bacolod administered first aid before bringing the victim to a private hospital for further medical treatment.
Rebadomia said the man sustained injuries but was reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities said the incident was believed to have been triggered by family-related problems.
The latest case came two days after personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod City rescued a 32-year-old man who allegedly attempted to jump from Gonzaga Bridge in Barangay 28 on July 27.
Police said there is no indication that the two incidents are connected.
Authorities continue to encourage individuals experiencing emotional distress to seek support from family members, trusted friends, or qualified mental health professionals.
