ROXAS City – A 19-year-old suspected shoplifter was arrested at a department store in a mall in this city.
Alias “Ashley,” a resident of Barangay Fairview Road in Baguio City, Benguet, was found in possession of P32,502 worth of merchandise without purchase receipts.
According to the Roxas City Police Station, the mall’s administrative officer and security personnel approached Ashley at around 6:55 p.m. on Dec. 6 after suspecting her of stealing various merchandise.
It is believed that the suspect was attempting to leave the store when the vigilant security guard decided to inspect her bag, police added.
Recovered were 17 pieces of assorted pants valued at P13,583, 34 pieces of assorted children’s shirts amounting to P18,336, one t-shirt valued at P349, one food item worth P159, and an eco-bag worth P75.
The Roxas City police have taken custody of both the suspect and the recovered merchandise, awaiting appropriate legal procedures. (With additional information from Bombo Radyo Roxas)/PN
