ILOILO – Two drug suspects were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in P. Ledesma Ward, Pototan town for possessing 230 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1,564,000.

Detained in the Pototan Municipal Police Station (MPS) were alias “Pato,” a resident of the abovementioned place and categorized as a high-value individual, and alias “Bastian,” a resident of Barangay Guinacas, tagged as a street-level individual.

Joint operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement and Pototan MPS’ Station Drug Enforcement Team carried out the operation at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20.

Police said Pato was arrested for illegal drugs in 2013 but was released from jail following a plea bargain agreement in 2022.

The suspects will be charged for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

IPPO director Colonel Bayani M. Razalan commended the efforts of the operating teams.

He also expressed gratitude for the continued trust and support of the Ilonggo community in the campaign against illegal drugs.

“Your commitment to providing our beloved constituents with a peaceful and progressive province is highly commendable. And to our beloved Ilonggos, I genuinely appreciate your trust and support for your Ilonggo cops. Let’s continue our gains for a safer, more progressive, and drug-free Iloilo,” Razalan said./PN
