ILOILO – The recently concluded 2025 midterm elections in this province saw a sweeping victory for incumbents and candidates from established political families, as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) officially concluded the canvassing of votes across the province’s 43 municipalities and lone component city.
The results underscore the enduring influence of political dynasties and local power blocs, with a vast majority of incumbent mayors securing reelection — many of them running unopposed — while several new names from familiar clans also entered the political arena.
