ILOILO – Four suspects in an alleged failed summary execution face frustrated murder charges. Two of them were policemen.
The 39-year-old Glen Paloma survived six bullet wounds when found hogtied in a rice field in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes town early morning on March 26, 2023.
The police officers accused were Staff Sergeant Enrico Gonzales and Executive Master Sergeant Jessie Rubio, both members of the Intelligence Unit of the Iloilo City Police Office. They were relieved, according to Police Captain John Robles, chief of the Leganes Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Also facing similar charges are John Ian Leda of Arevalo, Iloilo City, owner of Abe’s Payag Seafood Restaurant, and Ricky Giluani of San Remigio, Antique, security guard of the said restaurant, Robles added.
“Na-determine na sang aton piskalya nga may probable cause sa kaso nga frustrated murder against sa mga suspetsado so mahulat na naman kita kung diin nga branch of court kag kung san-o ang hearing,” Robles told Panay News.
According to the police chief, Paloma’s statement was consistent with those of the witnesses.
“Base sa resolution ang nag-relay gid tanan is sa iya nga testimoniya kag nag-corroborate man sa mga statement sang duha ka witnesses naton,” Robles added.
On March 26, Paloma claimed he stopped in front of Abe’s Payag Seafood Restaurant on C1 Road, Pavia town to fix his bicycle after its chain broke.
The guard thought he would steal, according to Paloma, so they let him into the restaurant and beat him.
Several minutes had passed, according to Paloma, Leda and two others arrived at the restaurant on each of their motorcycles.
Paloma said he was later brought to the rice field in Barangay Calaboa.
