2 dead, 2 hurt in Antique road mishap

ANTIQUE – Two senior citizens died and two other individuals were injured in a vehicular accident in Barangay Yapo, Barbaza town around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22.

Police Chief Master Sergeant Dominic Española of the Barbaza police station said 69-year-old alias “Boy” was declared dead on arrival at Pedro L. Gindap Municipal Hospital.

The 84-year-old woman identified as “Fel” was transferred to Angel Salazar Memroial General Hospital in San Jose town but later died while receiving treatment.

Española added the two injured were identified as tricycle driver alias “Francis,” 44, of Barangay Poblacion, Barbaza and alias “Dionesia,” 75.

According to the investigation of the Barbaza police station, a multicab driven by alias “Jun,” a resident of the town’s Barangay Palma, tried to avoid collision with a motorcycle running in opposite direction but the former sideswiped Francis’ tricycle carrying passengers Fel and Dionesia.

Española said Francis lost control of his tricycle and crashed into a streetlight pole.

Barbaza police added that Jun fled after the accident but was captured after three hours of manhunt operation.

Jun was detained at the Barbaza police station.

He will face charges of multiple homicides, physical injuries, and damage to properties./PN
