ILOILO – A motorcycle driver and his passenger died in Balasan town. Their vehicle crashed against a van around 11 p.m. on Oct. 28.
The 23-year-old Angelie Pocesion of Barangay Pa-on, Estancia, Iloilo died while being rushed to the Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Malbog, Balasan town.
Motorcycle driver Arnolfo Alajar of Barangay Bulaqueña, Estancia died minutes after reaching the same hospital.
The van driven by Aron Acevedo of Pilar, Capiz hit the motorcycle that was making a turn, police said.
Acevedo was bound for Pilar, Capiz.
After the collision, Acevedo fled on foot. The van was damaged.
Policemen arrested Acevedo in the town of Batad. He was taken to the Balasan police station.
The Pocesion and Alajar plan filing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide against Acevedo.
Hours before this accident, a district hospital dentist died when the sport utility vehicle she was driving crashed into mahogany and narra trees in Calinog town.
Dr. Gladys Celiz-Montinola was rushed to the Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Calinog where she also worked, but was declared “dead on arrival.”
Her husband Filbert, a seafarer, was at the passenger seat. He was taken to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro, Iloilo City for the treatment of his injury on the right leg and bruises on the chest.
The Montinolas were on board a Ford Everest on their way to the component city of Passi when the crash happened around 1 a.m. in Barangay Barrio, Calinog, initial investigation by the municipal police showed./PN
