ILOILO City – A man who claimed to be a job-hire at the city government was arrested in a buy-bust operation.
Stephen Tan of Barangay East Baluarte, Molo district was collared with gym instructor Rodolfo Manaba of the City Proper near city hall. They yielded three sachets of shabu.
Friday night’s buy-bust was carried out by the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group.
City Administrator Hernando Galvez did not outright confirm that the Tan the cops arrested was a city hall job-hire.
But he said there was indeed a Stephen Tan initially hired to work under the task force on jaywalking in 2010 but later transferred to the Iloilo Esplanade.
“If confirmed that the Tan the cops arrested was the Stephen Tan working in the city government, we will drop him,” said Galvez.
Galvez commended the policemen for their successful operation.
“Kita mismo nagatinguha gid sunod sa mando sang aton mayor nga mag exert sang aton best effort nga madakpan ukon ma-identify ining mga tawo, ilabi na ang mga konektado sa city hall…pero nagakasubo lang kita bangod notwithstanding sa aton kampanya, may ara man gihapon nga makalusot,” Galvez said.
He said the arrest should serve as a warning to city hall employees not to engage in illegal activities.
Tan and Manaba face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
