2 high-value targets fall in Arevalo; P816K ‘shabu’ seized

ILOILO City — Operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU) arrested two high-value individuals and confiscated roughly 120 grams of suspected shabu worth P816,000 during a buy-bust operation in Arevalo district on Wednesday, October 21.

The anti-narcotics operation was launched at around 1 a.m. in Zone 12, Barangay Calaparan, following extensive intelligence gathering, surveillance, and target profiling.

The suspects were identified by their aliases “RR,” 42, unemployed, and “Dave,” 22, both residents of the district.

Recovered from their possession were one heat-sealed plastic sachet used as the buy-bust item, eight additional sachets, and one knotted plastic bag containing suspected shabu, alongside the buy-bust money and other non-drug-related evidence.

Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño underscored that the operation reflects the agency’s strategy to cut off local drug supply chains.

“Hindi tayo nakatuon sa dami lamang ng naaaresto, kundi sa suplay ng droga na napipigilan nating makarating sa ating mga komunidad. Sa bawat operasyong nakabatay sa matibay na intelligence, mas inilalapit natin ang ating layuning gawing ligtas ang Western Visayas,” Tuaño said.

The suspects are currently under police custody and will face formal charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
