BACOLOD CITY – A driver and his cousin were killed while three other passengers injured when the tricycle they were riding collided against a tractor in a bridge in Sitio Omapog in Barangay Luna, Cadiz City.

The deceased were identified as Celso Bendoria Vito, 41, driver of tricycle; and Alejandro “Ally” Vito, 50 both residents of Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Cadiz Viejo.

They sustained fatal injuries on the head and body and died on- the- spot, Cadiz City PNP Chief Edel Jose Manzano said.

The injured passengers were: Joan De La Cruz Vito, 28; her live-in partner Dennis Templado, 29; and Lyndon Vito, 15.

They were brought to the Cadiz District Hospital and were later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

According to the investigation, Celso was driving the tricycle from Barangay Cadiz Viejo to bring Alejandro to the Cadiz District Hospital due to asthma around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when the incident happened.

The tricycle collided with a tractor in a single-lane bridge that was under construction, police said.

The tractor was driven by 69-year-old Florencio Tesing of Hacienda Balandra in Barangay Daga.

Tesing told the police that he did not notice the tricycle but heard the impact of the collision.

The tractor was owned by Joseph Reboton.

Tesing was taken in custody of the Cadiz City PNP while the investigation was ongoing./PN
