KALIBO, Aklan – Two minor girls were allegedly raped in separate incidents in Aklan this week.
The first incident on July 11 involved a 16-year-old in Barangay Pampango, Libacao, a police report showed.
The suspect was identified as the victim’s 26-year-old uncle, who admitted raping her niece, it added.
Libacao police station chief Captain Willian Aguirre said the suspect was placed under hospital arrest after he tried to kill himself by slashing his wrist and hanging himself to a tree.
“He also committed suicide by drinking a pesticide because his conscience bothered him,” Aguirre added.
The suspect was already weak when police officers came to arrest him. He was brought to a hospital in this capital town for medical treatment. He was later transferred to the Aklan police station’s lockup facility.
On Saturday, a 7-year-old girl was also sexually abused while she was playing in a river in Malinao, Aklan.
According to police investigators, her parents left their house in Barangay Lilo-an to go to work and attend a school meeting. The victim was with her 9-year-old brother.
When her mother returned home in the afternoon, she noticed her daughter was weak and had blood stains in her clothes.
The unnamed teen narrated her ordeal to her mother after which they approached the police in Malinao.
Initial investigation showed the suspect grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth and dragged her in the comfort room where he raped the victim.
Officers of the municipal police station conducted a manhunt operation against the 25-year old suspect. He remained at large as of this writing. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
