2 new patrol cars for Iloilo City police

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) received two new patrol cars – Toyota Hilux – from the city government.

Senior Superintendent Marin Defensor, city police director, received the vehicles from Mayor Jose Espinosa III on Sept. 24.

One would be utilized by the ICPO staff while the other by the traffic management unit.

“These are a big help to our mobility,” said Defensor.

Next month the city government would be releasing to the ICPO seven more patrol cars, he said.

Defensor recently inspected police stations in the districts of Jaro, La Paz, Mandurriao, Arevalo, Molo, and the City Proper.

“Police stations have an average of two patrol cars. But some of the cars are old,” he said.

He then said motorcycles could better aid the police in running after criminals.

“Bentaha kasi if motorcycles gamitin natin. Madali makaiwas sa traffic,” said Defensor.

He stressed the importance of police visibility to discourage criminals from striking./PN
