Cops identify 1 of 2 suspects in Brgy. Estefania wake shooting

BACOLOD City – Police said they have identified one of the suspects in the shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy at a wake in Barangay Estefania.

But they cannot yet disclose their identity so as not to compromise the still ongoing investigation, said Bacolod City Police Office public information officer Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana.

The shooting happened at 1 a.m. on Sept. 23 in Celine Homes in Barangay Estefania.

Regie John Semillano, a resident of the village, died. He sustained a gunshot wound on the back.

His 15-year-old friend, Dominic Espelosa of the same barangay, was also shot.

Hit on the left hand, Espelosa was taken to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Investigators from Police Station 4 said two motorcycle-riding suspects were responsible for the shooting.

Witnesses the police spoke with have positively identified one of them, according to Gabana.

Police already have the affidavits of the witnesses and the complainants but were still gathering more evidence before they file any charges, Gabana added.

The BCPO official encouraged anyone with knowledge on the identity of the suspects to come forward and give them information./PN
