2 Pototan ‘bookies collectors’ fall

ILOILO City – Two more suspected bet collectors for the illegal numbers game “bookies” were arrested, this time in Barangay Amamaros, Pototan, Iloilo.

Salvador Sesilao and Salvador Ticao, residents of the same barangay, were taken to the Pototan police station.

Officers caught the two soliciting bets from residents at around 3 p.m. Monday, a police report stated.

Bet money worth P100 and gambling paraphernalia were seized from them.

They face charges for violation of Republic Act 9287, the Act that increased the penalty for illegal gambling.

Last Friday Lolita Palmares, 53, and Bonifacio Tambo, 67, of Passi City were arrested also for allegedly collecting bets for “bookies.”

Officers arrested them separately – Palmares first at 11:30 a.m., and then Tambo minutes later.

Officers recovered from the suspects gambling paraphernalia and a total of P366 worth of bet money.

Palmares and Tambo were detained at the Passi City police station. They face similar charges./PN
