ILOILO City – Police seized approximately P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu from two tricycle drivers during an antidrug operation on Wednesday, December 17, in Barangay Poblacion South, Oton, Iloilo.

Taken into custody by the Oton Municipal Police Station (MPS) were aliases “Tayong,” 34, tagged as a high-value target, and “Eric,” 32, a street-level suspect, both residents of the said place.

Operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), in coordination with the Oton MPS, carried out the operation at around 10 p.m. Fourteen transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 200 grams and non-drug-related items were confiscated.

According to Police Major Dadje Delima of PDEU, the operation stemmed from information provided by concerned citizens about the suspects’ alleged drug activities.

They were arrested after almost a month of surveillance, Delima said.

He added that the suspects reportedly sourced their supply from Iloilo City and distributed it in the nearby barangays of Oton.

The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
