20 WV teams compete in U-18 volley league regionals today

TWENTY Western Visayas-based high school volleyball teams are set to compete in the Rebisco Volleyball League 18-under Regional Finals from June 13 to 16 at the University of St. La Salle Gym in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts will try to retain its championship in the Regional Finals for a chance to represent the region in the National Finals in Manila later this year.

Thunderbolts veteran Joan Marie Monares said they are confident of their chances of retaining the Regional Finals crown as they will be parading an intact lineup from last year.

“Our preparation has been great. The coaches have prepared us for this regionals,” Monares said. “Mostly naman we will have an intact lineup so our focus is to keep the crown and the chance to represent Region 6 in the National Finals.”

Also part of Thunderbolts were Alyssa Bertolano, Rhean Almendralejo, Aurea Alvero, Gwen Bañas, Kiesha Bedonia, Annikha Cabasac, Shane Carmona, Katherine Cortez, Erika Deloria, Nicolei Galvan, and Kathleen Tan.

Other qualifiers from Negros Occidental were University of St. La Salle, Living Stones International School, Trinity Christian School, Colegio San Agustin, St. Theresita’s Academy, Calvary Baptist Academy of Pontevedra, and Colegio San Nicholas de Tolentino Recoletos.

Regional qualifiers from Iloilo were Central Philippine University, Palanguia National High School, La Paz National High School, Iloilo Doctor’s College, Bingawan National High School and Passi National High School.

Qualifiers from Aklan were Numancia Integrated School, Northwestern Visayan Colleges, Malay National High School and Aklan Catholic College, while Guimaras is represented by Supang National High School and Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion will be Capiz’s representative./PN
