ROXAS City – Two hundred new troops were taken in to the Jamindan-based 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
They recently completed a six-month Candidate Soldier Course and Jungle Warfare Mountain Operation Course at the Division Training School, said Lieutenant Colonel Ericson Rosana, Public Affairs Office head.
Division commander Major General Jon Aying welcomed the new soldiers during graduation ceremonies at Camp Macario Peralta, Rosana said.
Part of the ceremonies was the enlistment and entrustment of firearms of candidate soldiers Class 410 and 411-2016.
In a speech, Aying told the new soldiers about the true meaning of military professionalism, Rosana said.
A soldier must have “faith in God, spotless morality, and a harmonious relationship with comrades and the people in the community,” Rosana quoted the Division commander as saying.
Moreover, Aying reminded the soldiers to use their firearms to “win the battle in promoting peace and order in the countryside,” said Rosana.
The Division’s Public Affairs Office head said the six-month training started Aug. 1, 2016.
It aimed to “provide the candidate soldiers with the basic knowledge and skills on soldiery, develop their character worthy to become members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and prepare them to perform their duties as riflemen of the infantry squads,” he said. (PIA/PN)
