ANTIQUE – A total of 200 partner-beneficiaries from the municipality of Sebaste in this province received cash assistance under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6’s Projects LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest).
Each beneficiary was granted P9,600 in compensation after completing the 20-day Cash-for-Work and Training (CFWT) program implemented under the Risk Resiliency Program-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM) of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD).
Participants underwent capacity-building training and hands-on activities focused on disaster preparedness and the sustainable management of Small Farm Reservoirs (SFRs). These efforts aim to address water and food scarcity challenges intensified by climate change.
DSWD staff, together with local government unit (LGU) officials, also visited various community gardens and Small Farm Reservoir sites across several barangays in Sebaste.
Last month, newly constructed community sites in selected barangays were officially turned over to the LGU of Sebaste as part of the continuing efforts to build climate-resilient communities./PN
