SAN JOSE, Antique – The country’s most prestigious annual sports event , the 60th Palarong Pambansa will be held in the Province of Antique from April 23 to 29 next year.
The province won the bidding process that culminated at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Department of Education Central Office in Pasig City on Friday.
According to Antique provincial information officer Eric Otayde, their team headed by governor Rhodora Cadiao, was very positive that the hosting gig would go to the province despite some strong competition from Dumaguete City, which hosted the Palarong Pambansa in 2013.
“We are so happy that after 60 years, Palarong Pambansa will be held in our province.” Otayde told Panay News.
“This is very great news for the people of Antique. It is our chance to show the whole country he best things Antique could offer.” He added.
Otayde also said that Antique is now busy and excited in preparation for the said sports event. He also said that DMCI, owner of the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation, has assured the province that they will sponsor the overhauling of the entire rubberized track oval in the Binirayan Sports Complex.
On the other hand, governor Cadiao said that having the Palarong Pambansa in the province would mean good news for both the tourism and economic sectors.
The lady governor thanked all the local government units who showed their strong support during the bidding course. She further urged her constituents to support and cooperate for the success of Palarong Pambansa 2017./PN
