22 more unregistered guns turned over to BCPO

BACOLOD City – Twenty-two more loose firearms were turned over to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Thursday.

The guns were surrendered a day after the BCPO presented a total of 144 unregistered firearms to the public.

The 144 guns were turned over to the BCPO from July 23 to Aug. 15 in line with the Tokhang Kontra Guinadilian nga Pusil of the Police Regional Office 6.

The BCPO now has 166 unregistered guns under its custody. Of these, 103 were from individuals who are processing their license to own and possess a firearm.

The 63 others were from people who no longer want to renew their gun registrations.

The surrendered firearms are owned by businessmen, government officials and policemen, according to the BCPO.

BCPO head Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo said on Thursday his men will facilitate the donation of unclaimed firearms to the government.

Unclaimed guns may be given to police units and other law enforcement agencies that need more firearms. (With a report from PNA/PN)
