2,444 Libertad residents vaccinated against COVID

LIBERTAD, Antique – From April 6 to July 30, 2,444 residents here were vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Mayor Mary Jean Nicopior-Te, “Duro run sa aton mga kasimanwa ang nagboluntaryo magpabakauna.”

The vaccination site was the Libertad Central School.

Of the 2,444 individuals, 1,745 were already considered fully vaccinated for having received their second dose.

Frontline healthcare workers fully vaccinated numbered 494, while there were 323 senior citizens and 928 persons with co-morbidities.

“Gipangunahan gid kang aton mga kapitan ang pagpabakuna imaw kang mga frontliners sa mga barangay,” said Te.

She urged more residents to have themselves vaccinated. They have to register with the Rural Health Unit or Bangay Health Emergency Response Team.

“Bahol ang tsansa nga kung kita may bakuna kag kita magka-COVID-19, hindi mangin severe o grabe ang aton nga sintomas.Bahol ang posibilidad nga hindi run magpaospital. Kag bahol ang tsansa nga maluwas kita sa kamatayon,” Te stressed.

As of Aug. 2, Libertad had four active COVID-19 cases.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
